We had the unusual opportunity, to be EBay contracted to produce TWO "WW2 German Gatehouses and Roadblock Crossing Bars" at the same time!
One of them for our Friend Michael in California, and another for our Friend Peter in Australia.
We thought it would be fun to create an ongoing photographic "BLOG" of the progress on these 2 movieprops.
Since our resident Action Figure Staff includes both "U.S. Combat Engineers" and "U.S. Navy Seabees", and we also have
WW2 German "Sturmpioneers", we thought that the American Allies could build one of these projects,
and that the Germans could build the second identical project. We could declare a temporary "truce" in any/all hostilities,
so that we could safely document these projects being built side by side, and then we could work the projects in friendly competition,
and then judge which team of engineers, built the best construction, the fastest. Fast sloppy work was a cause for disqualification!
Having just recently left the Hospital Medical Center at the University Of Colorado Medical School, we were
a bit slow coming out of the gate of project initiation, however, we have recovered the initiative, and here is the report so far.
Check back often, as daily work updates will be documented photographically, and then added in where we had last left off herein.

Our Engineers would need 4 "jackstuds" per Gatehouse, so we begin by "glulaming" them together. A "JackStud" is 2 single studs nailed together (or glued together). A "KingStud" has 3 single studs nailed or glued together. |

|
The 2 "Mudsills" (first horizontal board atop the concrete foundation) have been created. |

|
Framing members of the Rear Wall of the Gatehouses have been assembled. |

|
All "Frames" have been assembled, and transported to the ultimate construction site; they are then laid out in the position of assembly; a crate of scale nails is placed in between the 2 structures, so each engineering team can replenish nails as used up during building. |

|
Frames must be "inline", "plumb", and "squared". |

|
Right wall frame has been attached and clamped. |

|
The German General Contractor is closely supervising this contest! |

|
Hauptmann, walk that left wall frame forward, and place the "toeplate" (the bottom board of the frame), on top of the "mudsill" in correct positioning. I'll be there to nail it in, in a moment, mein Herr! |

|
We took our Dinner break, in place! |

|
You'll need to hold these in place until the glue dries. |

|
You may let go now, Sir! |

The German "Sturmpioneers" completed mounting these frame members, and then
screamed for the contest timekeepers to "Stop the stopwatch!"
