Forward Medical "Aid Station"

DollHouse Furniture

A U.S. 21st Special Forces Group "Forward Aid Station"

14 October 2008

*****

A "Forward Aid Station" is a rapidly thrown together small scale Medical Corps "Emergency Room", as close as is

safely possible to combat, or combat operations, such as Parachute Jumps for training. It may be an impromptu area,

where wounded or ill Soldiers can be brought for emergency lifesaving medical treatment, and maintained there

pending "medical evacuation" (should that be needed) to a larger, in the rear (more secure) field hospital, for further care.

Many things medical can be handled entirely in the "Forward Aid Station" by the Medical Corpsmen there (such as coughs,

low grade fevers, blisters, athlete's foot, "bugs" crawling on/around you, light intensity short term diarrhea or similar vomiting,

minor cuts, minor burns, scrapes, hangnail....many of the problems that any patient anywhere has). Since the

"Forward Aid Station" is very close to, or often right within the Soldiers own unit, it is a minor inconvenience to travel to

see a Doc. Soldiers may receive care, then if appropriate, be returned to duty shortly thereafter. If the Soldier needs further rest,

but not necessarily evacuation to a higher level of care, the Docs there can keep a Soldier under close observation until

there is improvement. Sometimes, there is no choice but to maintain Soldiers in the "Forward Aid Station" for a bit, because

you might want to evacuate your wounded or ill by Helicopter or Truck Ambulance...but an active batch of enemies in the

proximity might be interfering with that. Obviously, it would be desirable to have very competent Medical Corpsmen at the

"Forward Aid Station". Perhaps your unit has been holding a piece of land for awhile now, so the "Forward Aid Station" has

steadily been improved upon, and built up with a protective shell and roof, and sandbagged several layers thick.

However, this "Forward Aid Station" is brand new:
