An "RTO" (radio telephone operator) of the "1stSSF" (First Special Services Force).
Started during WW2 in 1942, by LTC ROBERT TRYON FREDERICK of San Francisco, the "1stSSF" was a unit combining Americans and Canadians. They became one of the most distinguished elite units in the history of the World. Their Soldiers were known as "Forcemen" (the Force of GOOD). We tuned his "SCR-1000" Radio to the correct FREQ (frequency) for the "U.S. ARMY 8th Air Force". We need them to airdrop emergency supplies for us, so we can get them to a couple of "British Allies" that escaped from behind Nazi lines, and are traveling home through a conduit that we help the "French Resistance" maintain and secure. Our conduit being a human "pipeline" of safety & help, back to areas under control of the World's FREE People. "De Oppresso Liber" (The "Latin" language), meaning "I shall liberate the oppressed" (I shall rescue, and set FREE the slaves!). |

The "Forceman" got his message through....the needed supplies are already enroute. |

Colonel BANK (he later founded the U.S. 10th Special Forces Group...1950) has already gotten word regarding arrival of the Airdrop. Some of the Supplies have landed in the treeline surrounding our expedient "drop zone" (DZ). |

We can assume ALWAYS that the enemy has us under observation, and may be calling in right now, to have their Soldiers snatch us and these Supplies. We have to hustle, and we have to conceal as much as possible, that anyone, or anything, has been here... |

I've got to get this fouled "chute" down....often, the enemy observes us from the Air...then sends Soldiers to check out what they spotted from above....I better get this down, and stashed away from view from the sky! If we get lazy....people get dead! |

After several tugs, it is starting to come loose. |

Finally down! The Forceman has to be very certain to be alert to his surroundings...the enemy could approach at any time! |

He starts pulling the "suspension lines" and "parachute canopy" into his arms. He uses a fast "figure 8" pattern in his arms to speed his efforts up. |

He finally has it all, and pulls both hands toward his chest, to lock the bulky "canopy" into position. |
|
He starts running toward the treeline...and will pick a good spot to "ditch" this parachute, once he gets closer to the treeline. Not only does he want to hide the parachute from view....he also would not like enemy aircraft to see him either! Their "Fighter" planes (Messerschmidt "BF-109G" model) have both Machineguns and Automatic Cannons on them. |

He hesitates momentarily to listen, to make certain this area he is going into, isn't already occupied...by anything unfriendly! |

It appears deserted....so he "double times"* in. * "Double Time" = Moving twice as fast as normal |

He goes back in far enough, to be certain the parachute is stashed back in pretty good, so that an aircraft patrol, and most "foot Soldier" patrols or vehicle patrols, will NOT see the chute... |

Checking his "backtrail" (the direction he originally came from) to make certain he is NOT being pursued. He needs to "link up" with Colonel BANK and help him with the Supplies. But if he unknowingly leads the enemy to Colonel BANK, the enemy could easily just be patient, continue pursuit, and follow us to our Brit friends AND "The French Resistance"! IF he sees he IS being followed, or that they are actually attempting to overtake him and capture him...the trained "Forceman" will distract the enemy by taking them a different direction, to prearranged spots he knows where he has numerous well armed friends....thus Colonel BANK can complete his "mission"...perhaps slower than with help carrying...but far safer! |

He pauses just a moment...to watch intently...and listen. |

Colonel BANK is an excellent athlete, and even with a 45 pound Ammunition Crate full of "9mm Ammo", he has already covered much ground since recovering the crate. The "Forceman" helping him knows the route, and can easily catch up. It is no problem that "The Forceman" knows the first leg of Colonel BANK's trip. That is all he knows so far. Evenso, the Forceman will fight to the death before he allows himself to be captured and interrogated while being tortured. He KNOWS what enemies do...and he knows what he does to them FIRST. He is an AMERICAN...the world's best fighters in the cause of FREEDOM. |

The Forceman has been trained to the level of a world class athlete, and has run easily and fast.... catching up to Colonel BANK, he grabs a handle of this Ammunition Crate, and now Colonel BANK can move faster too! |

Colonel BANK knows that they are nearing their "link up" point with the 2 British Paratroopers....he frequently looks around to make certain that no one is following or observing them. Notice also, that rather than running in the open, they stay very close to the woodline, or even IN the woods... to avoid observation by Aircraft. |
