2.36" Rocket Launcher (aka: The "Bazooka")

First of the Rocket bags...

5 Rockets in containers per rocket bag, or 10 Rockets without containers per rocket bag.

10 Rocket containers here....

Sarge, let's check out each Rocket....

Saunders, I count a total of 10 Good Rockets , in Containers....

I have 5 loose Rockets here, Lieutenant Hanley!

Saunders, there's a total of 15 Rockets for COMBAT missions today...

Sir ! Sometimes we have to use our "WP SMOKE" Rockets to mark a target !

NEVER fire "WP SMOKE" ammunition of any type, at or near your own Soldiers !

Neutralize that Machinegun Bunker!

A NIGHT "Tank Ambush" set up by "U.S. Paratroopers".

Being alerted to the possible threat of incoming enemy Armor and Cavalry (vehicles other than tanks), CPL Red Parker "low crawls" over to a stack of "Anti-Armor" weapons and Ammo that "The U.S. Paratroopers" use and had "airdropped in earlier, in anticipation of enemy Armor threats. Another Soldier has already removed a "U.S, Paratrooper" 2 piece model "2.36 inch Rocket Launcher" (designated "M1A1 Bazooka"), has opened one Ammunition Crate of TEN 2.36 Rockets, making the weapon ready for rapid use. There is also a second, closed Ammunition Crate of another TEN Rockets.

CPL Parker begins by assembling the Rocket Launcher, because he can not yet see any enemy vehicles, but he can hear tracked vehicles, he knows that they aren't FRIENDLY vehicles, and knows he better get this weapon assembled quickly and correctly, and keep an eye peeled for the incoming enemy Armor and Cavalry vehicles.

Parker also located a "Caliber 9mm British STEN submachinegun" (in lower left of this Photo). Note the STEN's "stick magazine" of bullets attached to the horizontal left, and the wire stock. It can have a "Suppressor" (noise silencer) attached on front.

Parker has to be careful when handling a STEN of this early (in WW2) model, because even if selector switch on "safe" position, it can "cook off" (FIRE) if you drop it.

CPL Parker sets up the Rear Sight of the Rocket Launcher, in preparation for the need to fire. "Be Prepared" (like "The Boy Scouts" taught us).

CPL Parker "loads" a 2.36 inch Rocket into the Launcher's gun tube ("barrel") and will properly connect up the

2 firing wires to the rocket motor's igniter, from the Launcher's "Trigger" and Battery box. He will also check before need to fire,

to make certain that the Launcher's batteries are still good. Parker also has his "Model 1928 Thompson Submachinegun, in caliber .45 ACP"

with Vertical "Front Handgrip" and a 50 round "drum" of bullets, ready to fight close in defense against attacking enemy Soldiers. This model of

"Thompson" is like "Al Capone" the American Gangster used against enemy "gangbangs" in the 1920s and 1930s.

If Parker has to fire several shots at the enemy vehicles, he can reload much faster and be safer, if the unit commander assigns a "loader"

(another Soldier to assist CPL Parker, the "gunner" of this Anti-Armor weapon).

CPL Parker (and his ammunition "loader") will fill up each of their "M2 Ammunition Vests" with 3 Rockets in Front, 3 Rockets in Back, just in

case after firing each Rocket shot on target, the "Bazooka Team" must move rapidly away for their own safety, away from these Ammo crates.

They may be able to get back to the Ammunition crates safely later in the fight, or they might not be able to. By gathering 6 Rockets in their

Ammo Vests in addition to the 1 in the Bazooka Launcher, at least they will have 13 serious SHOTS at the enemy vehicles or personnel that

may be grouped into enemy machinegun positions, mortar pits, or antitank positions (trying to knock out any of our "friendly" Armor and

Cavalry vehicles). CPL Parker MUST exercise "command and control" of his "fire team" and use "shoot and move", because enemy forces

WILL try to  knock them out of action as soon as they can. Outthink them, move ahead of their counterattack. Do not any longer be where they

are trying to  "shoot back" at.

"Red Parker" (John Wayne?) says: "Sir, since my "M2 Ammunition Vest" is also designed to carry Six "2.36 inch Rockets"

for our "M1A1 Bazooka" Rocket Launcher, may I try firing that one two? I LOVE "Heavy Weapons"!

Let's uncrate some Ammunition, please, Sir!

Close up of Ammunition Crate and things that fit inside!

Look, Sir! A "10 Round Bazooka Rocket Bag" and 10 each  2.36 inch Rockets fit perfectly in these newly manufactured Ammunition Crates!

Landing right on the money!

Once again, I totally missed the trees encircling the "DZ"!

"U.S. Paratrooper" gets into his "Weapons Container" (always placed on his LEFT side).

"U.S. Paratrooper" Bazooka Anti-Tank Gunner, is quickly assembling his "M9" 2 piece Rocket Launcher....

Gunner puts the 2 sections together, then twists to lock them together.

Then he checks Launcher's BATTERIES (or "Magneto") and "Sights", to make certain they withstood shock upon landing...

The Pathfinder Lieutenant nearby saw that the Bazooka Gunner's "Loader" had not crawled over this way yet...

We need Anti-Tank capability up FAST!!!

So, the Lieutenant crawled over, and is getting a Rocket ready for loading...

Loading the Rocket, and then attaching the Rocket Motor's ignition wires up....

Pathfinder Lieutenant taps the Gunner on his Helmet, to indicate the Bazooka is READY for firing at "Targets Of Opportunity"!
